Anxiety provoking ... teen boys .. dubious men using ‘gender neutral' toilets was a threatening experience. The smell of urine emanating from the floor was nauseating. Felt my privacy and integrity was invaded. Felt unsafe while sexist remarks were being bandied about around the hand wash area. Locked myself in the toilet afraid to come out 'til all was quiet. As a Muslim woman I now have to hope I don’t need to use public toilets each time I go out if they all become gender-based rather than single-sex facilities.
