No Conflict, They SAid

In Australia and around the world, legislation is being introduced that replaces sex with gender identity. Advocates insist that there is no conflict of interest. But governments are not collecting data on the impacts of this legislative change. We're worried about the impacts on women of men using women-only spaces, including but not limited to: changing rooms, fitting rooms, bathrooms, shelters, rape and domestic violence refuges, gyms, spas, sports, schools, accommodations, hospital wards, shortlists, prizes, quotas, political groups, prisons, clubs, events, festivals, dating apps, and language. If we can't collect data, we can at least collect stories. Please tell us how your use of women-only spaces has been impacted. All stories will be published anonymously. If you know of other women who have been impacted, please encourage them to tell their stories too.

toilets

Was at a shopping center with my four-year-old daughter. We went to the toilets, and when we came out of the cubicle a man dressed in a mini-skirt, see-through blouse, and knee boots, was peeing with the door open.


I was sexually abused by a man, groped by several men on different occasions, and verbally sexually assaulted by so many men I cannot count. I/we need single-sex spaces for safety, privacy and dignity and the moment a man no matter how womanly takes a step into female spaces he is saying he doesn't give a f**k and that is not a person who belongs in female spaces.

women-only meeting for trauma victims

In Sydney there is a 12-step meeting for female trauma victims. Two male cross-dressers started to attend the meeting. One was particularly aggressive and unsafe plus broke all the guidelines by repeatedly over-sharing explicit details of rape. One survivor of male violence explained to them politely that they felt unsafe with men in the room, then one of them became extremely aggressive and used various threatening behaviours as well as repeatedly oversharing distressing details of rape that triggered the woman’s post-traumatic stress. They didn’t come back after that, but the male-centred women in the group then turned on the female survivors and said they didn't feel safe. The meeting has now closed.

women’s meeting room

The women who ran this space insisted men cross-dressing were welcome despite many survivors of male violence who used and wanted to use the only women-only space in the city. Women stopped going when it was made clear that the space was mixed-sex and therefore unsafe for them. No consultation.


Same at the University where gender critical views were closed down despite holding conferences for domestic violence. ACON and woke academics seem to have a lot of influence and don’t respect survivor needs for single-sex spaces as they have bought into the delusion that men can be female.
