denying the mantra in a counselling session

I told my psychologist that I don’t believe men can be women if they say so and I need single sex spaces.

She knew I had experienced trauma related to male violence.

She used the entire session to argue about this with me.

I told her I do not believe 'identifying' and 'being' are the same thing.

She kept saying ‘trans women are women’.

I asked how, and she kept repeating that same thing.

I should have walked out.

Up until that exchange she had been great.

When she left, no psychologist at the practice would take me as a client.

pool in canadian building complex

Women in our building in Mississauga stopped using the pool altogether because we knew there would be a man in a wig walking around the changeroom, genitals swinging, not giving a damn who saw what. This particularly impacted the Middle Eastern women who had been granted a time for them to use the pool exclusively, because he demanded to be able to use it then too and was allowed! Most women who still wanted to use the pool walked to it wearing their pool clothes, and walked back to their units wet, rather than using the pool changerooms. I had two teenage daughters who refused to even swim anymore. I was threatened with arrest if I said anything else to this guy, because apparently I was 'harassing him' by asking that he not expose himself to my daughters and granddaughter. One self -ID guy has held the whole pool hostage.

women's dance at chillout festival

It was advertised as a women’s dance. Being a Chillout (2019) event we thought it reasonable to expect mostly, if not all, lesbians at the dance. There were 4 individuals present who were clearly males trying to present themselves as women. It just spoilt the entire vibe. To top it off, of course they used the women’s toilet. We live in country Victoria and there is so little social stuff for lesbians. When we queried the presence of these trans-identified males (TIMs) at a women’s/lesbian dance we were told: “if they say they are women then they have to be allowed to attend”. The same thing happened at the Red Velvet Ball, TIMs came, only a few but it is just wrong. It has the same selfish tone as blokes who would sleaze on to lesbians in gay pubs. Their very presence is invasive and off-putting. It is all about them getting validation by intruding into lesbian spaces. It made us so angry and sad. Why can’t we just have one dance a year that is just for lesbians? You know, adult human females who are same-sex attracted. There is no respect.
